Colorado Prairie

Some call it "the other Colorado". Others say "there's nothing out there or it's all flat." I beg to differ - Colorado is roughly 42% prairie, or grassland and is hardly flat. This is the land of the Pawnee and Comanche National Grasslands, with buttes and canyons that beg to be explored. There are areas of relict trallgrass prairie stretching into the foothills along the Front Range. Once called America's Serengeti, there is a surprising diversity of wildlife on the Colorado Plains. It is also considered to be one of the most endangered ecosystems on earth, with only 1% of the land protected.
