Flying Dinosaur

My most recent Lighthawk mission took me over Dinosaur National Monument and the western Piceance Basin in northwest Colorado. More images and commentary are posted on my Western Wild blog. Check it out.

Medano
I'm drawn to this 1850's homestead every time I visit Zapata Ranch, one of the top 100 ranches in the world. I get the same feeling that I had when exploring homesteads for the Prairie Thunder book; a window into another time and a chance to imagine what life was like when the house was built by hand, the trees planted as windbreaks in straight rows, taking too many years to provide shelter, and the life of isolation in a place so spectacular it's now adjacent to a national park.

Black and White Gallery
