A Shot For Life

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Colorado

Black-footed ferrets, our most endangered mammal, are vulnerable to sylvatic plague, rabies, and a host of other diseases that can be transferred from prairie dogs, their primary prey. This juvenile ferret was trapped in the early morning hours of an autumn night, anesthetized, immunized, and allowed to wake up slowly before being returned to its same burrow before sunrise. Biologists are working on new, less costly immunization strategies as we work to stabilize the ferret population, now around 2,000 individuals in the wild.

The Duraplaq Standard substrate is a 3/8" HDF board that is 100% recycled, environmentally friendly and is pre-laminated on both sides and finished with a "box" frame. The finished picture has a clean look and the matte laminate greatly reduces glare, allowing you to see the image. Duraplaq mounted prints can be cleaned with your normal glass cleaning products and are extremely durable.
